IR USA Honors Virginia Imam

On Tuesday February 8, Islamic Relief USA recognized Imam Mohamed Magid with an award for his dedication to helping the less fortunate.

Imam Magid, who is nationally known for his leadership in interfaith efforts, has been a longtime supporter of Islamic Relief USA’s domestic and international relief projects. When massive flooding devastated Pakistan this past Ramadan, Imam Magid sprang into action, encouraging the members of the 10 mosques he leads in Loudoun County, Va., to support flood survivors and donate to Islamic Relief USA.

Thanks to Imam Magid’s hard work, about $100,000 was raised at those Islamic centers. IR USA CEO, Abed Ayoub, was very thankful for Imam Magid’s support, saying, “Imam Magid is a visionary, very dedicated and open-minded.”

Imam Magid was humbled by the recognition and was caught off-guard by the award.

“I believe that I need to honor Islamic Relief for all the work that they do, not the other way around,” he said. “They touch a lot of people’s lives.”

In addition to being the spiritual leader to multiple mosques in Virginia, Imam Magid is also the president of the Islamic Society of North America.
